Best way to drive through Louisville?
I'll be driving down I-65, heading south, and wonder which is the best route through Louisville.
I've been told that I-265 is too far around, and to take I-264. Is this the best way? And which way around on I-264. The person lead me to believe I should go around to the east, but to the west seems shorter. It will be on a Friday, possibly late afternoon, in Feb. Thanks for any advice. |
Are you continuing on I-65? If so, just stay on I-65. No need to go around.

I agree with rkkwan. I-65 is not really congested except right at rush hour, and even then you would be better off just to grin and bear it rather than to go around the city.
If you are coming in on I-64, yes, you would take either I-265 or I-264 to the west. I would choose 265 both because the traffic would be lighter and it puts you further out of town. The mileage wouldn't be too different. |
If you are heading south on I-65, it would be best to just stay on 65. Try to avoid 5p-6p, but on a regular traffic day, even that is not bad. If you do go around I-264, I think West would be best.

Thank you all so much. Yes I'll be coming in on I-65 and continuing south on it.
SO, sounds like I should just stay right on it, and save miles. I should be going through before rush hour. Even so, it can't be nearly as bad as Toronto rush hour! |
Yep the other are right. I've been thru Louisville on I-65 about a million times and their rush hours are usually pretty tame.
