Best Way From SFO to Point Richmond?
 

We are two couples going to San Francisco to drink wine, eat seafood and generally celebrate our 70th b'days.

Not to bore you with the details but we want to fly into SFO and then will need to get to a friend,s house in Point Richmond. 4 days later doing trip back to SFO. Will not have a car.

If we take cabs, do you know what the approximate cost would be?
If we take a limo service, do you know what the approimate cost would be?
If limo service, do you have suggestion?

You can get to Richmond by using BART. http://www.bart.gov/stations/rich/directions.aspx
The Oakland airport is somewhat closer if you have to hire a car and driver rather than renting a car at the airport.

Even if you took BART, you would still need to get to Point Richmond from Richmond. Either rent a car or take a shuttle service. I have no idea of the prices.

Have your friends pick you up at the Richmond BART station, or take a taxi from that station.

Questions like this always prompt me to think " Why don't you discuss this with your friends, surely they will have suggestions on how to get to their home."

BTW Although taking BART would seem like a good alternative, the Richmond BART station is somewhat sketchy at night.

Hey janis, I didn't want to be too scary and say no way would you catch me anywhere near the Richmond BART station after the commute was over!!!

I'm not aware that the Richmond violence occurs at the BART station, but the OP could always get off at the previous one (El Cerrito) and either be picked up or take a taxi to Point Richmond.

If you friends can't come and get you for some reason or you don't want to take a taxi from the Richmond/El Cerrito BART station, then have you tried planning your trip on google maps?

On a google map of San Francisco, if you click on "Get Directions" and put in "SFO" at one end and your friend's address at the other end, then click above the addresses where the first small picture is of a car and the second is of a tram, click on the tram to get public transportation directions. Sometimes google maps will also give you alternative routes.

Google maps will give you the local bus lines that will get you closest to your friends' house.

Travel light! Travel light! Travel light! If you're going to be coming for only 4 days and will be taking a lot of public transportation, you don't have to bring the kitchen sink.
