Best Valentines dinner on Maui

I'll be in Maui Feb 11th-19th with my wife and 8 yr old daughter. I want to take them to a restaurant with a great view for Valentines Day. Any suggestions?

Go to Mama's Fish House. The setting is so lovely. You'll have to go before dark to see much. We took our daughter when she was eight and she loved it!

I second Mama's Fish House. The view, ambiance, & the delicious top of the line food are all worth the price for a special dinner. Enjoy!

You don't say where you are staying. Mama's Fish House is west of the Kahalui airport. If you are in Kaanapali or Wailea, that's a very long drive and not recommended after dark. Plan a spot near your hotel.

I think a luau would be nice.

I'm not trying to push Mama's Fish House, but most people who have dinner there are coming from the Kaanapali or Wailea areas - the "tourist" areas. The drive back in the dark is on major roads and no big deal.

How about somewhere on the beach in Wailea and south, to watch the sunset? Then a walk on the beach, vs. a drive home in the dark. (An 8-yr-old appetite is an expensive waste at Mamas, IMO.)

Two years ago my husband took me and our ten year old daughter to the Little Nell in Aspen for Valentine's Day dinner. It was the most expensive meal we've ever had and featured everything from pate' to quail eggs. We all dressed up, my daughter tried - and ate most of - every dish, and we all felt very special. That is a priceless memory for me and not in any way a "waste". To each his own...

exactly. And that is why I was hoping that "IMO" would be enough not to get a retort at me, instead of a helpful comment t o the original questioner.

I guess one person's helpful comment might be perceived by another as a "retort". I'll start adding IMO just to be safe... (Tensions seem to be running particularly high on the forums lately.)
