Best travel Baltimore to NYC?

Do not want to take our car into the city for a 4 day weekend. Is the train a good idea? Please advise...thanks travelers

The train is perfect. You can go from Penn Station Baltimore to Penn Station New York. In about two hours.

Amtrak will be fast, clean, reserved seat... but about $200

Greyhound will be crowded, dirty, and not the fastest... but is only $35 roundtrip

You can get from Baltimore to New York for less than $200. If you use some discounts or play your times right, you can do it as low as $100 to $120. Good money to pay to avoid the bus, unless money is really the object.

You could also drive and park the car for the 4 days using one of these garages

Do you have a hotel?

Thanks everyone - probably the train . We are going for four days in May to celebrate my 60th birthday. I got a great deal at the Michangelo Hotel and we scored some great tickets to the Metropolitan Opera House for "Baber of Seville"

Any other ideas for things to do - we like to walk and I am trying to surprise my HUbby with a spa massage - can anyone recommend a great spa?

In late October I took the train from Aberdeen, MD to Penn. In the past, I have driven, flown and taken a bus to NYC. Taking the train worked best for me. Have fun!

Returning w/husband for Easter weekend. Got a 279 rate at the Waldorf. Train will cost us about 300.00.

We are thinking about driving from Balto to Weehauken and then taking the ferry. Any advice?

What advice are you looking for? ;)

If you are staying at the Waldorf, and driving, you may as well drive to the Waldorf. Phone and ask about self-parking. You can park in the same garage for considerably less than using the valet. OR, as mentioned above, check iconparking.com - we use this all the time. Have your husband drop you and the bags off, then park the car.

Any savings by parking in Weehauken are probably not worthwhile. One of the advantages of driving, versus taking the train, is bringing everything you want - which is especially nice for having an array of outerwear for the iffy March weather. Why drag your bags from Weehauken?

Thanks for the advice - we ended up choosing the train. We will enjoy the trip more and the price worked out.
