Best time to visit NOLA

I haven't been to NOLA since I was a teenager - many moons ago. I would like to plan a trip in 2004 - what is the best time to go when the weather isn't hurricane season or hotter than h**l? I don't think we want to go during Mardi Gras either. Any suggestions?

December. Papa Noel specials everywhere, Reveillon dinners, and very few tourists around. The weather is usually in the mid-to upper 70's in December.

I like April-May, too, but they are generally pretty rainy months......gee, I guess I'll just have to stick with 19 hours from now!!!!

Sorry.......I couldn't resist.........

We went in May a couple years ago and the weather was great. It was a little warm, but not too bad - rained a couple days, but not all day long, just some showers in the afternoons.

Halloween! I loved being there for Halloween - the town was partying, but not as crazy as Mardi Gras. We could wear shorts during the day and pants at night but no coat needed. Much better then the time we went in late January - we froze!

What was the weather like in March?

I went at the end of March 2002. The weather was in the seventies and was not humid. There were signs Mardi Gras had been there about a month ago but it was pretty quiet overall.
