Best time to see flowers in the Great Smokey mts and around Asheville

I have been in Asheville in the fall, but never come to see the flowers in the spring. This time I would like to travel to the Great Smokey mountains. Any suggestions on the best time to see the flowers and drives from Asheville to the mountains? The same question pertains to seeing the flowers at the Biltmore.

Asheville is pretty high in elevation so spring will come a little later than lower elevations -
The Biltmore House website says March to May. If I were planning a trip I'd say the latter half of April into May.

I just doublechecked the dates of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival and that starts on April 19th = peak of spring in the piedmont. I'd add two weeks to that for Asheville for peak.

I agree with Starrs! We have tickets for Biltmore that we are saving to use to see the flowers and we plan on going the first week in May.
