Best time of day for Whale Watching in New England
 

In my search on whale watching tours around the New England area, I noticed that the boats go out at about 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. Which one is better for smoother sailing and/or more whale sightings? I've not gone whale watching before and would like a good experience for us. Thanx for any insight/tips.

Depends on where you sail out of! MA, NH, ME, RI, CT? Specific location is needed. As to smooth sailing...that's a crap shoot. It all depends on the weather. If a storm is approaching or just passed you would expect the water to be rough. Also depends on the size of boat. The bigger the boat is the less likely the cruise will be rough. As to how many whales you would see...again...a crap shoot. Depends on the time of year and their migration patterns. The colder the water (more north locations) the more I expect you would see. Best advice is to call a few days ahead.
