best things to do on Big Island?
 

My parents, sister & boyfriend, husband and I are all going to the BI for 2 weeks over Thanksgiving (ages 28 - 56)....most are very active...any suggestions on activities, restaurants, etc would be greatly appreciated!

There are TONS of great BI trip reports here. (I wrote one on my trip in May.) Do a search!

My favorite things in no particular order:

Manua Kea summit trip, with post trip star gazing at the visitors center.

Volcano's N.P. with a twilight walk to the flowing lava.

Kayaking and snorkeling Kalakeakua Bay early AM to see and swim near the wild Dolphins.

snorkeling at Capt. Cook Monument- shrimp at Bubba Gump's (so it's a chain- it's good!)

Parasailing! I was terrified the first time I tried it, but wanted to do it anyway - and once I got up there, it wasn't scary at all and I got absolutely addicted. The boat goes from the Kailua-Kona pier next to the King Kam Hotel. They have a perfect safety record and it's just magical.
