Best Themed Restaurants in NYC?

I remember watching a show about a horror-themed restaurant in NYC---the name escapes me now, but the entire theme of the restaurant was very gothic and horror-ish.

What are some of your favorite themed restaurants in NYC? And no, Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp, and Planet Hollywood DO NOT count. I have already eaten at the Motown Cafe, and it was good. But I don't want to try it again.

Sounds like Jekyl and Hyde. That's a horror all right -- but not just in the theme department.

Neopatrick---thank you for the info! that might be the place I was thinking of. The website looks good, but it doesn't say anything about solo diners. Have you been there? what is this horror of which you speaketh?

Considering the Motown Cafe shut down about six years ago, good thing.

Have you bought a guidebook yet lovetotravel? A lot of your basic questions could be answered very easily by even the most basic guidebook.

You can always check one out at the library if you don't want to buy one.

There are NO good theme restaurants in NYC. Good theme restaurants is an oxymoron - like jumbo shrimp or military intelligence. Stay away from them at all costs.

There are so many good, inexpensive local places serving fresh food rather than this processed micro-nuked swill - why ever go near one?

There is no need to go to a theme restaurants in NYC because there are so many authentic places, such as Brazilian Rodizio Plata Forma Restaurant

However, some years ago I had a rather amazing experience at La Maison de Sade--an S&M restaurant, which I believe is out of business. I read that La Nouvelle Justine, offers a similar experience, but I've never been there.

Well, I must say I've taken some beatings eating in some restaurants, but I've never paid extra to do so. I guess the cream isn't the only think that gets whipped for dessert.
