No contest. Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Williamsburg. It's well worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Make sure you take plenty of cash. They don't take credit cards. And now I forget. Do they not take reservations?

Peter Luger's does take reservations. If you don't have one, be prepared to wait. And be forewarned, the surly service is a trademark!

About how much is a cab ride from midtown to Peter Luger's? And how long does it take?

Lugers Lugers Luger!!!! or Homestead if your staying in the city. Cab would be at least 20 bucks from midtown and can take anywhere from 20 mins to 45.

A suit will not be over the top. Casual or dressy--either way is fine.

Dear Cameron: Don't know about the best but I'm from Chicago and have enjoyed some very good steaks. I am not easy to please in this category. I and my partner savored a very good steak at Joe Allen's. I think it is on restaurant row near the theater district. My partner though it was the best steak he had had in years.

Cameron, <BR> Peter Lugers is definitely best. There's also one on Northern Boulevard in Great Neck. Also good is The Palm and Smith and Wollensky's in the city. Peter Lugers is definitely best though.
