Best Starting Point to see Banff

We live in South Florida,so we are expecting a long travel time to get to Banff..but what would be the best place to fly into to see the Canadian Rockies?(Banff, etc) We would rent a car from this starting point. Thanks

Hello: Last summer we flew from Texas into Calgary. Banff was only about a 1.5 hour drive (and very good roads). We spent a few days in Calgary going to the Stampede and making a day trip to Drumheller (terrific dinosaur museum). Then we drove to Banff - only about 1.5 hour drive (on very good road). From there we drove on to Jasper. The Columbia Icefields parkway between Banff and Jasper is incredible. After our stay in Jasper, we drove back to Calgary for our flight out.

Several years ago I did the same as janesch. My young sons really enjoyed Drumheller. IMHO a not miss on your way in or out is the Olympic park in Calgary. You can actually ride a portion of the Luge...one of the few places in NA. You can also go to the top of the ski jump and sit out where the skiers do. this is from 1993 so things may have changed.

Perhaps our best family vacation.

go to the Canadian board and enter Judy_in_Calgary in the search forum box above. She is the Canadian board equivalent to Utahtea.

Calgary....make sure to see Lake Louise, too.
