Best shuttle from SFO Airport
We are staying in the Union Square Area at the Hotel Rex and need to take a shuttle from the airport when we land as will not have a rental car right away. what is a good reliable one to take?
|
I wouldn't use a shuttle. I'd either take BART or just catch a cab from the rank at SFO.
The Rex is a bit of a hike from the BART station so I'd use BART if I had very little luggage. Otherwise a cab. Or you could always take BART and then a cab for the short ride from from Powell & Market. |
A shuttle like SuperShuttle will cost about $17 a person and will stop a multiple locations. A taxi will cost about $40 total and will take you straight to your hotel. A shuttle is fine for one person, but doesn't make sense for more than one.

BART

BART is not a good option if you have more than 1 suitcase..and teh closest BART to the DT Union square hotels is a couple of blocks, some up hill. SF7307 has it right.

I live in San Francisco, and never make any reservations for a shuttle, just hop onto the first available going to the downtown area. There is always an employee at the stop to answer your questions.
To go to the airport, I always make reservations with BayShuttle http://www.bayshuttle.com/ it's the cheapest most reliable company, don't miss website discount codes on the left side. Super Shuttle is bad, never on time. |

The Rex is on Sutter Street, so even farther from the BART station, about 5-1/2 blocks, and yes, an uphill grade. |
That's why I mentioned BART and then a cab from there as an option.

We walked up Powell to Bush with our rolling suitcases. There are plenty of people in the area doing the same thing. Wasn't any big deal. I say BART.

Yes janisj..I agree w/you. Just re-enforcing. BArt can be a problem if more than 1 roller bag, elderly or just not billy goat. ;-)
