Best seats for Fela on Broadway?
 

We could have either:
* Front row mezz -- A, 9-11 (overhangs row K, slightly to the side)
* Orchestra side, on the aisle -- B, C or E 1-3 (is it better to be further back?)
* Center orchestra 15 rows back -- N, 103-104

Have you see this show? What would be your vote for the best <u>sight line</u> and <u>sound</u> for this production? It sounds like a big, bold, maybe loud, production. I'm not always keen on being TOO close to a big show. Thanks.

I think center orchestra is probably better since there are a few things going on at the sides of the stage. It's a small theater so most seats will give you a good experience.

Mclaurie, Of course, I've looked at the seating chart. I always consult "Seats, New York" by Jode Susan Millman before every trip to Broadway. However, that doesn't help with the question of placement of action, scope of production or sound quality for a particular show. I was hoping to connect with someone who's seen the show from specicific seats. I've seen The Full Monty and Death of a Salesman in this house -- both from the front row mezz. I do remember it as being a rather shallow theater, K_brklyn.

My memory is a little fuzzy-I saw Fela late last year during my Broadway binge.

First, I sat in the very last row in the center-T section and was fine, there were actors "hanging out" at the back since it's suppose to feel like you are in Fela's night club-some ppl found it a bit distracting and complained about it. In the center section I felt like I could see everything.

I then moved to the left side in the "L" section to join a friend and although I had a better view of the stage, I think I preferred the other seat because I missed some of the things happening on the side.

There are actors going up and down the aisle at times as well.

Regardless of the show and the "action" (unless you want to be around the actors who are moving up and down the aisle), front-row mezzanine seats are almost always superior to the back of the orchestra. I've found that to be the case almost universally regardless of the theater.

Amen. I'd grab those front row mezzanine seats in a heartbeat over the others.
In any case, my second choice would be E 1&3 since I like being able to put my legs out in the aisle during the show.

I'm usually all over front row mezz seats, but some of the theaters hang so many lights from the railing that it can interfer with the sight lines. Leg room isn't great there either if you're not on the aisle. Maybe those E seats on the aisle.......?
