Since you asked Neo, this is a trip that my wife earned through her employer.

While it is all expenses paid, it does not include transportation in and around town but does cover our airport shuttles to and from RSW. It is also activity intensive thus the single night on the town.

I thought about getting a rental for the week but why put out the additional expense if we don't have to. I have family coming in from Cooper City and will be driving us back their for a couple of days.

At the end of the day, the resort concierge must know a few good local spots.

Makes sense. Those airport shuttles from RSW to Naples can be outrageous which is why I asked -- glad yours are covered. By the way, there is an Enterprise car rental north of town (Pine Ridge and 41) if you end up wanting to rent a car just for a day or two.

I think I must be about the only person on the planet who thinks stone crabs are no big "whuh"! We could get them at no cost to us at my DH's hotel, but they really don't appeal. Sort of an "off" crab or lobster, but neither, and not as good as either--to me anyway! I had to have one order every year though just to see if I'd come around to other's thinking, but it never happened. I saw them in a specialty market here a couple of weeks ago, but thankfully they didn't call to me--they were over $30 a pound here!!

Hi Olive, I don't get stone crab claws either. But nothing but they certainly are easy for a restaurant. They come to the restaurant ready to serve. The biggest joke is Joe's in South Beach. For 3 years I attended the Stone Crab festival at The Colony on Long Boat Key. Chef's from all over and none ever could come up with anything really special for them.

Best seafood in Naples to me has to be Trulucks, hands down. They have their own fleet and have some unusual fish that are not available elsewhere. I don't see that is it particularly expensive given the quality. I truly like that they do not do the bottled water scam. Their own bottled water comes to your table unbidden in a nice glass bottle at no charge. Great wines. HG

Hi, Honoria, haven't seen you here in ages. This is so funny. Just got off the phone with a waiter fried whom we're taking to Turtle Club for his birthday in a couple weeks. We were discussing the stone crab issue as he gets so tired of everyone asking if they serve them at "his" restaurant -- they don't. I was even talking about Joe's in Miami and what a joke it is. When someone says "Their crab claws are the BEST", I always have to laugh. As you say, they are no better than the ones you'd get anywhere -- stone crab claws are stone crab claws. Period.

I'm curious though about the bottled water at Truluck's. I just thought it was chilled tap water in a special bottle like you often get in France. No?

Water is filtered at the restaurant, so it is tap water but tastes just fine, not the usually poor tasting water we have from the tap in Florida.

Given our world economy, it makes no sense to me anymore to have water from everywhere being bottled and shipped all over the world. Enormous waste.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. Actually I'm perfectly content with Naples City water and that's all I drink normally. I didn't notice any difference at Truluck so assumed it was just tap water (which is fine with me), but I do know our clients still insisted on their favorite bottled water. They always gasp when I say we drink tap water -- go figure.
