Best Seafood Buffets

We will be in LV only 2 nights and thought we would try a buffet for 1 night. In your opinions where is the best seafood buffets held (quality above quantity)? And are the breakfast buffets worth going to, or would breakfast cooked to order be better? Any info on best places, costs of the different buffets, etc. appreciated.

We stayed at Ballys in April, and loved the breakfast buffet. Items were very fresh & varied.

Since "buffet" basically means "all you can eat", you can count on quantity trumping quality in the final equation.

Having said that, the buffet at the Aladdin is probably your best bet. The seafood section is well-stocked and varied. However, it will still not be as good as a mid-level (or higher) sit-down restaurant. Since LV's dining scene has improved so exponentially in the last few years, I only resort to buffets in desperation. The better buffets will set you back $20 or more, so I don't see the savings, especially when you factor in Mylanta, Pepcid, etc.

Breakfast buffets are a dime a dozen in the better hotels, in my opinion, and usually not that great. I strongly prefer sit-down breakfasts, frankly.

Without a doubt the Seafood Buffet at the Rio is the best I have been to. It's not cheap as far as buffets are concerned, about $30 per person, but well worth it.

I second the Rio !

Paris has an excellent breakfast buffet.

I agree about the Paris breakfast buffet being good. We enjoy Bellagio's buffet also. Their seafood and other items are top quality.

The Sunday Sterling Champagne Brunch at Ballys spoiled me for any other brunches forever! It was pricey ($50pp) but oh so worth it. For one, it's limited to a small group (make reservations well in advance). The quality of the food made it a great value. The selections ranged from caviar, to made-to-order sushi, split Maine lobster, baby rack of lamb, just to name a few. I highly recommend it.

Listen to Maggi! She knows of what she speaks!

Hey Maggi, I think you should really advise this poster to take a quick flight to Kauai for the Princeville seafood buffet!!!!! :)

Here's another vote for Rio, as far as seafood buffets go.

Maggi Aug 13th, 2003 05:32 AM

Yeah, Lynn, if you are ever on Kauai the Princeville is THE place for seafood buffets! And Joan is way more of an expert on seafood than I am.

Log a vote for Bellagio. Though I haven't been to Bally's Sterling yet. I always seem to miss it on Sunday.

Another vote for the Rio Seafood Buffet.

Who's been to Rio and Bellagio's buffets? Then which is best to them?

puddin Aug 13th, 2003 05:34 PM

Oh, clairelong, the Rio cannot hold a candle to the buffet at the Bellagio. The quality of food (specifically seafood) is so much better than the Rio...I can't even begin to tell you. Sure the Bellagio is pricier, but you get what you pay for, my friend. Trust me on this one.
