Which is the best scenic drive from Lake Tahoe to San Francisoc on April? 50 rd from South Lake Tahoe or 80 rd from Trukee?

80 is freeway the entire trip once you leave Truckee. 50 is 2 lane road down to about Pollock Pines with better views of the River. 50 is all Freeway after the traffic lights in Placerville.

It entirely depends on where your are starting from. If southshore, it makes no sense to drive around the lake just to get to Truckee and I-80. And if you'll be up north it makes no sense to drive around to southshore just to catch hwy 50.

So - where are you staying at Tahoe? (both routes are scenic).

And if you have more time, Hwy 88 is probably the most scenic route of all - leaves from southshore south on hwy 89 and then 88 through some of the prettiest country in the sierra.
