La Fonda can't be beat for location (and other amenities), and we always stayed there when with my parents (who used walkers), but see you have marked it off the list. I don't think you'll find the Drury to be nearly as convenient, but hope you enjoy it. For restaurants, I suggest Geronimo, Terracota, 315 Restaurant and The Compound. Your wife will likely enjoy El Shed, and you should be able to get something there that isn't New Mexican.

We were in Santa Fe in late May and Cafe Pasqual was only open for take-out. I love that place, but not eating it in a hotel room or on a park bench!
