We love Ti-Couz! It is one of our favorite places to eat in the city. They serve very tasty savory and sweet crepes. It's a fun and lively place.

Re: Sushi
How about good places for sushi? And would we need reservations if there is a group of 6 or more?

Travelbeck,
Definitely call for reservations for a group. From what I've observed, a party of six would be a bit much for sitting at the counter in a typical small sushi place. In addition to tables, many sushi restaurants have one "zashiki" room with tatami mats and a large table, specifically to reserve for groups and celebrations. I'd recommend trying to snag it.

Some recommendations -

Ebisu - on Ninth Avenue near Irving
I used to go to Ebisu a lot. It's a larger place, jolly atmosphere, usually has three or more chefs working at a time.

Sanraku - On Sutter near Jones (?? not sure)
Convenient downtown location. I thought the food there was good and the welcome warm.

Hamano - on Castro near 24th Street
Creative, lovely sushi plates. Once I ordered a combo of some sort and it came as a minature garden on my plate with "daisies" and "centipedes" made of various sushi elements. Almost too pretty to eat.

I just want to thanks cher_cher for the suggestion of Cafe Claude.

We went there this past Friday, and the mood/decor & food were all excellent. It has a very French/Parisian feel. We had some pate w/bread to start, then a greek salad. For entree, we had quail & mussels. We were tempted to have a fromage plate, but we were too full, so sadly we had to skip it.

On the down side, the service/attitude was not that great...

Asia de Cuba is also an excellent restaurant, and so is Roy's. Slanted Door is very very good as well. So is the House restaurant on Grant street in the North Beach area.
Chaya has excellent dining near the Embarcadero and so is Shanghai 1930 which also plays jazz. Cosmopolitan Cafe is a great place to catch drinks before dinner. Near the Embarcadero as well. The Butterfly on the Embarcadero is really good too. Sorry for all the rambling!

Tadich Grill on California Ave. Great old seafood restaurant. Not too bad a walk from Union Sq. on a nice day. I've been going there since the 70's, and their tradition continues.
