Best route to take from Acadia National Park to Bethel, Maine, in October

We will be driving from Acadia National Park, where we will be spending 2 nights, to Bethel, Maine, in October. Once in Bethel, we'd like to spend some time driving/hiking in Grafton Notch State Park. Is there a scenic route from Acadia to Bethel? Or should we just get there as quickly as possible so we can make use of our limited time in Bethel?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Laurie

While I'm at it, any recommendations on the best way of getting to Acadia National Park from Portland, Maine?
Thanks again,
Laurie

The choice from Portland to Acadia is 95 and 3, or rt 1.
Neither is really scenic, and 1 has stretches of low speed limits, so I usually opt for taking 95 up to rt 3, then over to MDI.

Bethel is the home of NTL, an excellent people skills institute. Highly recommended, to say the least.

I once drove from Acadia to Bethel, deliberately taking the back roads.

It was raining slightly, and the radio station I was listening to as I left Acadia, said "and now for the next three hours, we are going to play Frank Sinatra songs".

Sinatra is not my favorite, but it worked for the back roads and the rain. Great drive.

The road to Bethel involves a lot of two lane highways.

I think Google maps give you several routes. I don't think you are going to find any "special" routes if you haven't heard of them by now, though weekend posts are slow.

Frank Sinatra in the rain. Sounds wonderful. Thanks for the replies!

I just went on Google Maps, and they offer 3 different routes from Bar Harbor, Maine, to Bethel. I-95 S, I-95 S and US-2 W, or ME-3 W. Any opinion on which of these 3 would be the best route?
Thanks,
Laurie
