best route to Pullman WA?

We're doing a college visit to WSU from Oregon. Can anyone advise the best route to Pullman from Portland? My map doesn't look very direct, and there are choices. I84 to 395 to Hwy 26 over and down? Thanks

The direct route is 84, 82, 395, 26, 195--350 miles and about 6 hours of driving.

Call 511 for road conditions.

Happytrailstoyou has given you the route we take when we want the most "direct" way. We have been driving to Oregon from the Palouse for years now and have tried the other routes but this one seems to be the winner. When you are going north on 395, turn at the rest area to get on highway 26. I still get a bit confused going north when I see the sign at Connell that goes to Washtucna. Just keep going north on 395 another 10 or so miles and then turn at the rest area onto highway 26. The roads are good the entire way.

Thank you both. It's way better to get this from experienced travelers. Mapquest occasionally does crazy routes. It even looks like the weather in the Gorge will be cooperating this weekend!

Returned from my trip to WSU. Easy as pie drive. We enjoyed stopping at the fruit stand/mercantile on HWY 395. Lots of fun foods to try samples of and great sandwiches for lunch. Thanks for the road advice.

Thanks for the report.
So seldom is one received.
