Best route St. Augustine to Marco Island
 

All the sites send me down 95 to 4 all the way to 75 in the Tampa area. That may be the best way but, in looking at the map, I was wondering if getting off 4 w of Orlando onto 27 to 29 and 80 to 75 in the Ft. Meyers area would be better. Suggestions?

Yes, take 27 to 29 to 80 to I-75. That's how we go to Orlando, or to reach I-95. More towns, but rather scenic, and not so boring.

Keep a good map on hand in case you need to "escape" I-4 earlier than that! There are plenty of times the back roads are a better choice than I-4!
