Best Route Moab to Grand Tetons

Can anyone tell me the best route to take from Moab,Utah to Grand Tetons,Wyoming in mid August on a Sunday? I also need a stopping point to spend the night. We would prefer to do most of the driving in one day.
Thanks

There are two routes you could take.

US191 runs through Moab and all the way to Jackson Hole. A small portion of it is along I-70 above Moab. That route looks the shortest on the map, however, because of backtracking, it is actually a few miles longer than the next route. This route is shown to be 521 miles on the Maps and Streets software package.

The second route, and in my opinion, much ot it more scenic, is US191 to I70; I70 to Salina, UT; US50 to I15; I15 north to Brigham City, UT; then US 89 to Jackson Hole. This route is about 508 miles. The route along I-70 and then the leg from Brigham City to Jackson Hole are seriously scenic. You do have to drive the urban corridor from Provo to Ogden through SLC but, barring accidents, traffic usually flows pretty well during the middle of the day.

As for an overnight, you don't really need one but, if you wanted to, my vote would be for Logan, UT. It's a pretty little town in the Cache Valley about 2/3 of the way along the route. It also has my favorite place in the world to buy ice cream - the Utah State University Ice Cream Parlor.

If you take the US191 route, I don't have any recommendations for an overnight. There are quite a few small towns along that route in both Utah and Wyoming. IMO, none stand out from the rest.

Have a great trip.

dwooddon, Do you recommend any particular hotel in Logan?
Thanks
