best restaurants in Palm Springs and environs
I am hosting a small meeting at the Hyatt in Palm Springs in early January 2008. I need restaurant recommendations for dinner for six nights. Money is no object. Looking for fantstic food, great service/atmosphere, good wine lists. Please help me. Oh and any location is Coachella Valley is ok.

Wally's Derert Turtle in Rancho Mirage.

One of our favorites and simply one of the best in the Palm Springs area is
Le Vallauris. levallauris.com |
The Mariott in Palm Desert has a couple of nice places and the grounds are awesome to walk around getting to where you want to eat.

Thanks everyone--anyone else?

- Le Valleuris for the old 'rat pack' experience
- Riccio's for Italian - Europa for Euro elegance - Johannes for modern continental and cosmopolitan - Sullivan's for steak (PD) - Scirroco at the Esmeralda in Indian Wells (too far?) - Blend for creative fine dining (in La Quinta, probably too far for you) I had never looked at Chowhound before. Interesting site. I liked the debate about La Casuelas Terraza. The Del Gados are a really nice family, but frankly the food (and service sometimes) at Terraza has been mediocre for the last 20 years. It is a tourist trap, but a great, lively place for a drink, then move on. The Morcus restaurants---Kaiser Grille, The Deck, Chop House, Hog's Breath, etc---can also be a good spot for a drink, but my experience has been much less than stellar for dining (after many tries). Good luck! Have a great time! PSL |
If you don't mind casual and inexpensive but very good, try Thai Smile--there are 2 of them in the area.
Also, the Japanese restaurant (forgot it's name) at the Marriott was pretty good if I remember correctly, plus it's fun taking the boat there. |
thanks everyone
