Best Resorts in Fort Lauderdale Area

Which resort is best for a family with teenagers in the Fort Lauderdale Area?

There are several Marriott resorts in that area. You can go to Marriott.com to find them.

Thanks egret. Is there more to do in Fort Lauderdale than in Boca Raton/Palm Beach area?

Hello all,

Well I am a Ft. Lauderdale resident of 25 years and the "Strip" has come along way. A1A is built up with many great hotels. There are classics like the Yankee Clipper, or Yankee Trader. You can also try the Bahia Mar, all of these are right on or across A1A from the beach. And yes if you have a car, you could try in Boca Raton, there are lots of great hotels, right on the beach.

Send me a message and we can get more in depth if you like.

There's a new St. Regis and the Atlantis (Starwood). The old school resorts are VERY tired and in desperate need of work.

Oh , thank you all for those recommendations. I have looked into the Marriott's there and those seem fairly new. Are the Pelican Grand Beach Resort & Lago Mar some of those in need of work? They seem to have so many activities for the kids, but I will need something updated and maintained due to allergy problems. Thank you all so much for all the input.

Have not personally stayed at the Bahia Mar, but DIL family (with 4kids ages teen to 6) who live in the area go there for a get-away a couple of times a year and have a blast. They are discriminating tourists, if that helps.

The Renaissance is not on the beach. Marriott's Beach Place is at least 10 years old. I'm in development and worked in Fort Lauderdale until 3 years ago, and I can't think of a full service Marriott resort that's been built in the last 10 years.

I've never been in the Pelican Grand or Lago Mar.

Also, Beach Place is not on the beach, either. It's across the street.

St. Regis, Pelican, Lago Mar, and The Atlantis get my vote.

When are you going to be in Fort Lauderdale? There is also a W Hotel in the works.

Also, don't discount The Westin Diplomat in Hollywood. It is right down the road.

Westin is right on the beach. It's a very nice Hotel. Rather large, but very nice. IMPO it's very expensive.

Look at the Mariott Harbor Beach. It is one of the best hotels on the ocean in Fort lauderdale
