Best Rates for Rental Cars

I am trying to find the best rental car rates. I have an Entertainment book as well, but can't seem to get the rates that were on a post below. Can anyone please give more details. The best I found were around $189 weekly.

Below is what I fond on another post.

-Alamo...111.33 incl tax via Entertainment coupon
-AVIS...117.91 + taxes via Sam's club
-Budget...129.51 incl tax via Entertainment
-Hertz...138.11 incl tax with Entertainment or Skymiles discount
-National...105.88 incl tax with Entertainment

I always check expedia.com, as well as the various major rental sites directly, and Dollar always comes up as the least expensive for me. I use them often and have always been happy with their service, prices and vehicles.

Last month we rented for a week with Budget in San Francisco. The Entertainment book was a decent deal, but when I checked with the reservation clerk over the phone instead of the internet, I asked if they had a better deal if I were a member of some other group. The best deals were through AARP, BJ's, and a few other groups I wasn't in.

Advice: Check the general website for membership groups (it was a dropdown menu on Budget) and then check with a friendly sounding person on the 800 number for the rental agency.

When I booked a rental car for us in Kauai, the best rates I found were using the Entertainment coupons for Thrifty and Alamo. I booked the car then kept following rates right until the day before departure. The rate dropped over $100 at that point so I cancelled my reservation and made a new one.

Also, with the E coupon, it includes adding your spouse for free. Most companies now charge $7-8/day to add a spouse as a driver.

Thanks for the advice. I am looking for a compact or mid-size for 7 days in maui and then 5 days in kauai. Looks like about $180 plus taxes and fees weekly is the best right now.
