Best pools on Maui...
 

I am planning a vacation to Maui next year. We will be with infant & 3 year old, so I'm looking for a resort with a great pool area. I'm specifically looking for zero entry pool, 'pop jets' (water sprinkler/fountains) and maybe even a slide. I hope I'm not asking for too much? Other Hawaii locations aren't out of the question if someone knows of a great resort on another island. Thank you for any recommendations.

Grand Wailea has the most elaborate pool system in the islands. Don't recall any pop jets. Waterfall and slide, yes.<BR>Hyatt Kauai and Sheraton Maui get honorable mentions.<BR>You might also seriously consider Kea Lani Maui, as pools are good but room size is largest in the islands....great for families. Next door to Four Seasons and one away from Grand Wailea.

Mr. Pacific - I had the same reaction to the note until I re-read it. The ocean isn't a very good choice when an infant and a 3 year old are involved.

Mr. Pacific: I've been to Hawaii sveral times and have never yet been in the ocean. Gotta have the nice pool.<BR>The water off California and Hawaii is too darned cold for my tastes.<BR>Just returned from the Caribbean, however, where the water is warm and beautiful. Night and day difference vs Hawaii and Cali.

Gwen,<BR><BR>I'm a Native Californian. I have been to Hawaii, the Caribbean, etc. My question remains, if you are going to all of that trouble and expense, why worry about a swimming pool. Go to the local Holiday Inn.<BR><BR>The kids won't mind the ocean temps, plus it's a better place for the little ones to mess their pants, etc.<BR><BR>Mr. Pacific

Actually, we will be going to the ocean, my husband and I will attempt take take turns snorkeling a bit from the shore. We have been to Maui twice, and are familiar with the areas & snorkeling beaches. A nice pool is imperative as we will not be going to the ocean everyday. I'm sure it will be a bit of a hassle. Also, we will be coming from San Diego, so maybe not quite as far as some might have thought. After being pregnant & having a newborn, we will be ready for a nice, relaxing, tropical vacation. Thank you for the recommendations, and the 'concern'.

These postings are so rude ! <BR><BR>I suggest you try the Kea Lani. It has<BR>a large very nice pool area with a slide. I also recall that there was a<BR>small children's pool (very shallow) that was close to the main pool. I hope<BR>you have fun.<BR>

We go every Christmas to Maui and my favorite is the Grand Wailea. Great pools.<BR>One one thing that really disgusts me...when parents allow their babies to go into the pool bare-bottomed and their toddlers go in wearing just their disposable diaper without any rubberpants. I see that and avoid the pool no matter how much chlorine is in it.

Mr. Pacific has no life so he has to get pissy with other people. I am so sick of seeing people like him who are rude on these forums.

Isabelle--I am very picky about my pools, too. On our last trip to Maui, I thought that the Maui Marriott had the best pool area for little ones. Small wading pool with sandy beach area and playground equipment. I made a mental note to remember it for this reason!!

Thank you Grant, Jay, Nancy & Kathy for your helpful suggestions. Most websites don't provide very good pictures (if any) of the pools, and books do not go into any detail either. I thought this would be the perfect place to gather the info I needed. Any other helpful suggestions are welcome.<BR>I will never understand why people without answers to your question take the time to say anything at all.

Grand Wailea has a beach entrance and the biggest waterslide on the island. One thing to check is to make sure the 3 year old is allowed on any waterslide at any of the above properties. A lot of times they have a height restriction and then you have a very disappointed little one that can't join in the fun. Most places will not let you take the child on your lap and so on. The Marriott pool is new and I would be anxious to see it as the old pool was dated and scumy. Enjoy your trip. I would opt for a condo as with naptime it is nice to shut the bedroom door etc. Have a great time.

No need for a condo just to have separate rooms.<BR>Kea Lani is an all suites hotel with separate bedroom and better pools than any condo, and great beach.<BR>Best of both worlds.
