Best pool in Maui

My husband and I are planning a trip to Maui next year. Having a hard time deciding between Kaanapali area and Wailea. We enjoy outdoorsy activities and worry that Wailea is too far "away from it all". We are more pool people than beach people and would like a moderate to upscale hotel with great pool. Any suggestions?

Why even bother going to Maui? Check out your local YMCA.

Michelle, I'm not sure I can state it's the best, because I've only seen a few hotels on Maui, but the Sheraton Black Rock's pool was great, and the Hyatt was very nice as well. Myself, I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Maui (timeshare) and the pool area was not that great, but the hotel was a good deal.

I asked the same thing a few months ago. Most people recommended the Grand Wailea (has a waterslide) and also Sheraton Maui.
I have been to both Kaanapali & Wailea, and thought Wailea was a bit remote also. Not much dining except at the resorts. Lahaina was a bit far to go to everynight from Wailea.
Happy planning & Have a great vacation.

I agree with Marti-the first pool I thought of when I read your post Michele was the Sheraton. I was lucky enough to stay there for 10 glorious days. It truly was heaven. You'd love it. And the Sheraton is right at the end of that beach so you don't get the high flow of people on the beach. With regards to the pool, they really kept an eye on the people to ensure they were all guests. It was a fantastic hotel. Enjoy!
