Best Pool area

I am going to Vegas in June or July with my husband. We'd like to stay at one of the nicer hotels that have a great pool area. I am not a big gambler and figure we'll spend most of our time during the day lounging by the pool. I haven't been to vegas in a while and am hearing a lot about all the hotels that have been built - Mandalay Bay, Bellagio (sounds a little stuffy), etc...

My favorite pool is the Hilton - it's huge and a great place to meet all kinds of people. The last time I was there, I was told that it was one of the largest pools at a hotel in the country

Danielle, The Mirage wins hands down. It is the most beautiful pool I have seen. It reminds you of the south seas. The Flamingo Hilton does have a nice pool and the room rates might be less there as opposed to The Mirage but there's no where else I would stay in Las Vegas other than The Mirage.

I would opt for the Flamingo Hilton. Don't confuse the Flamongo Hilton with the Las Vegas Hilton. Two different properties. One of the above posters mentioned the Hilton which generally refers to the Las Vegas Hilton. The other Hilton is the Flamingo which is the one with the great pools.

Danielle!! A fellow non-gambler/pool lover!! The Mirage has a fun and beautiful pool, very South Seas-like. The Flamingo Hilton has a HUGE pool area, but I'm not crazy about the rooms there. Walked through the Mandalay Bay and I wasn't really impressed with the pool area. It's right by the airport, and it looked really crowded. (I need my space!) We just got back from the Bellagio and IMHO, I think it wins hands down. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the restaurants are fabulous (but pricey), the rooms were really nice, (marble and glass bathrooms, soaking tubs--ask for the fountain side of the hotel), and the pool area was beautiful. There are about 7 different pool areas--2 of them have great big Italian fountains in the middle. The whole area was clean--I've never seen such clean restrooms around the pool area--no such thing as a slimy wet floor (yuk). There are also house phones near every pool in case you need to get check your voice mail, or call your room. The cabanas looked great, but at $100 a day, we passed. If you need some shade, they'll bring you an umbrella. Very classy, very clean, very nice. E-mail me if you want more info. P.S. Lots of kids at the Mirage and Flamingo pools, hardly any at the Bellagio pools.
Happy Sunning!!

CAESAR'S PALACE- hands down. We went to Vegas last April and took a long time choosing a hotel. The pools at Caesar's are unbelievable, they have beautiful roman pilars and it is fabulous. We checked out other pools and we thought that nothing compared.
Be careful, the sun is very hot there. We layed by the pool for 3 hours and got completely burnt (later we found out) and it was hard to get around or do anything being so sunburnt. Just be careful- it's alot hotter than you think.

The MIRAGE.. and it is the best. They have a swimming complex with waterfalls, inlets and connected lagoons. If you like water and boats go to Lake Mead it's a huge man made lake. Rent a speed boat (comes with radio & refrig)for 6 hours. Scenary is magnificent and there are many small secluded sandy beaches you can pull the boat up to and have a romantic picnic and swim. BRING A HAT AND SUNSCREEN!!!!

Thank you for all the great advice. We have reservations at the the Mirage and thinking about the Bellagio since the feedback on this hotel has been awesome. Although the Bellagio is more expensive and I'm wondering if it's really worth it. I'm almost convinced it is. Thanks again for all the info.

Danielle,
I've stayed at both the Monte Carlo and the Mirage and they both have nice pool areas. While there has been a lot of negative comments about Mandalay Bay, most of them stem from the fact they opened before they were ready. If you don't mind being fairly far from the middle of the strip, it might be worth looking into. I have some friends that just returned that said the pool area is beautiful. I'm sure by June the service will have improved and the construction finished.

We've stayed at both the Mirage and the Bellagio. The Bellagio wins hands down. It is awesome! However, both are beautiful! The rooms at the Bellagio are much nicer. Caesar's is fabulous also! I don't think you could go wrong with either. Ask at the Bellagio for a cheaper rate - they will work with you!
