Try www.playbill.com for info on current shows and I think they were offering discounted tickets.

Broadway is buzzing right now as the season has kicked off. Tons of shows up. Also you can get half price tickets at TKTS in Times Square and at the South St. Seaport.

Have a great time.

tweedy

Plays:
1. Burn This-(stars Edward Norton--amazing)

Musicals:
1. Thouroughly Modern Millie
2. Rent
3. Aida
4. The Producers

My 19-year old daughter and I were there in May. Saw Producers, Rent, Lion King and 42nd Street. Amazingly, the only one both of us did not like was Lion King. We both really enjoyed all of the other 3. We are going back at Christmas and my daughter wants to see Rent again. We understand Thoroughly Modern Milie is good as well as Urinetown and we plan to see them then!

Hands Down....Hairspray! Tickets are hard to come by though. You might look at ebay.com for tickets for next month (usually they post them on ebay approx. 1-2 weeks prior to the performance).

I have also heard that "Burn This" is a GREAT show. in fact I am looking for 2 - 4 tickets for October 4th or 5th and Ticketmaster is SOLD OUT ! Any suggestions?

Get yourself a copy of the magazine TimeOut New York. The best for tourists.

Marcia -- We enjoyed Frankie and Johnnie in the Clair du Lune starring Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci. Warning, though -- there is a long stretch of full nudity (on both actors' parts) at the very beginning.

Howard Oct 1st, 2002 05:38 AM

I'll add a solid endorsement of Frankie & Johnny at the Clair de Lune. Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci are brilliant.
For what it's worth, friends who have seen both F & J and Burn This report that F& J is far superior.

There are several great plays off-Broadway. We absolutely loved Jolson & Co. at the Century Center for the Performing Arts. Just got tkts for the parents. Musical/play. Wonderful. We also really enjoyed The Butter and Egg Man at the Atlantic Theater, End Papers at the Variety Arts, and Take Me Out at the Public (soon to move to Broadway).

HAIRSPRAY....it's fabulous.

I have tickets for a new musical based on Billy Joel's music. It's called Movin Out. I think it's still in previews, but I've heard good things about it.

Dear friends
Thanks for the information.Have you seen Metamorphoses? Is it good?
Marcia

Elizabeth Oct 7th, 2002 05:22 PM

Metamorphoses is worth seeing, and there are often half-priced tickets at the booth. It is intelligent and moving, gets better as it goes, and theatrically it is really really really amazing. Beautiful.
