Sight-unseen, my father just saw "Producers" here in Chicago and raved on for days about it. He feels it will be the hit play of the year. I tried getting tickets to one of the shows myself but they are all sold-out. "Producers" hits NYC in March. It'll be a close call between Contact and Producers for me, but I think I'm going with "Producers".

Marcia, definitely get tickets for The Producers. Advance work is that it can't miss! It's already the hot new show and doesn't official open until April 19. Call now for tickets, as they are selling fast (I understand the Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick will do a number from the show on the Today Show in the morning, between 8 and 9.)

Highly recommended are the Lion King, The Producers, and Vagina Monologues. <BR>

Hi. I have seen the Producers twice already,and yes it was great. I have also seen two others that are fantastic - 42nd St & Bells are Ringing. 42nd street is everythin a broadway musical should be-wonderful choreography & dancing, gorgeous costumes, terrific music, and enchanting sets. Highly recommend. Bells are Ringing is another hit by the Comden & Green team. Faith Prince is unbelievably comfortable in the lead roll. Was so reminded of Lucille Ball! The sets & costumes were great. Not as much dancing & singing as the usual musicals. A more involving storyline & a lot of dialogue. May satisfy the musical/non-musical couples. For you NY'ers who don't mind some travel to NJ, there are 2 great productions in a row at the Paper MIll Playhouse. The 1st is Funny Girl starring Robert Cuccioli (Jekyl & Hyde). Next is Carousel. Also, Cirque du Soleil's Dralion is in Jersey City.

Good luck with the Producers for May. Several weeks ago I looked for tickets to any of four mid-May performances during a period when some people will be visiting and they were all sold out.

There's a chance that tickets for Proof might be available at TKTS for mid-week performances. But if not, you can probably get tickets when you get to New York. However, keep in mind that it just won the Pulitzer Prize, which might make it a little harder. Obviously, if you get tickets now, you'll have better seats! It's a tough call. The show is definitely worth seeing. That and The Producers make for a surefire rewarding double experience.

TKTS - in times square or at the World Trade tower (usually less of a line there) for same day tickets and if you go to playbill.com there is info about buying tickets by phone or online

I would highly suggest Proof- it was wonderful and well worth the ticket price.

Does anyone recall when the Tony nominations come out? Sometime in May, I believe. That might affect Proof as well, as I think it, and Mary-Louise Prker, are pretty much shoo-ins. BTW, Howard, yes I did love it. Best straight play I've seen in a long time; my s.o. said MLP was "so good it was eerie."

Caitlin, I believe the Tony nominations are announced in early May. However, I don't think it'll affect Proof that much. Proof is doing well, but not selling out every night. A person could luck in at TKTS, but if a person really wants to see the show, he/she shouldn't chance it, but should get tickets at the box office. (P.S.: Caitlin, glad you liked the show. We see August Wilson's latest, King Hedley II, in a couple weeks. We're big fans of his work. Will let you know how it is.)

Funny you should ask, Marcia. We just saw August Wilson's new play "King Hedley II" this afternoon. It's profound, sad and very eloquent. If you have seen any of his previous shows, this one's a must. The writing and acting are both outstanding. We were very moved and impressed.

<BR>Last night we enjoyed "Glimmer, Glimmer, and Shine" in previews. John Spencer from "The West Wing" starred. It's playing at the City Center on 55th between 6th and 7th.

Just returned from a weekend in NYC. We saw The Full Monty, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Annie Get Your Gun. All were wonderful.
