Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina next to the old lahaina luau site is good, a restaurant & bar not a to-go stand/truck.

Tasty Crust in Wailuku for good plates, not really a plate lunch place, more of a diner and a local institution.

We like Aloha Mixed Plate for both the food and the view. Set along the oceanfront, you can watch the parasailers. We also really liked Da Kitchen in Kahului. Huge portions and the opportunity to try some local foods in small portions on their "sampler" plates.

If you want to experience true "local" plate lunches, try Da Kitchen in Kihei or Kahului, Kitada's in upcountry Makawao town or Sam Sato's in the Wailuku Millyard. Good, real local food and good prices.

Another vote for Aloha Mixed Plate. The duck was out of this world and prices/ambiance great.

Totally agree with you Pattajc! Aloha Mixed Plate is good, but a bit too touristy for me.
