BEST PLACES TO EAT IN ANCHORAGE/DENALI
We are traveling to Anchorage/Denali late May/early June - can anyone recommend some good eating places (we have very picky men traveling with us) - some in Anchorage and along the way to Denali. Thank you!

Glaier Bay Brewhouse in downtown Anchorage is EXCELLENT! I'd love a plate of their herb-crusted halibut right about now...

A little south of the city center is Southside Bistro <http://www.southsidebistro.com/>. It is tucked away in a small strip mall, but features excellent food. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
I have also tried the Glacier Brewhouse <http://www.glacierbrewhouse.com/brewery.htm> but was not impressed. The emphasis seemed to be on the brews and less on the food. Also, they seemed to be quite impressed with themselves...and it showed. Just my opinion. |
The Moose's Tooth in Anchorage near the beginning of the Seward Hwy is a beer and gourmet pizza place with nice views.
There isn't much on the way to Denali except for Talkeetna. We got there mid-afternoon to find most places closed. I didn't care for the restaurants in Wasilla but they were okay family food type of places. Then it's a long stretch of hwy until you get to Talkeetna. |
Another vote for Moose's Tooth pizza and the Glacier Brew House. Also, really enjoyed the Italian restaurant Orso located on 5th Avenue.

In Talkeetna the Roadhouse is excellent for breakfast and lunch. The Latitude is great for dinner.
In the Denali Park area- south, the Lazy J Cafe is great and the Perch is also excellent. |
I liked the Denali Grand,,,had a wonderful meal with a great vue. Nenana View bar and grill was wonderful too.
