Best place to stay in Tuscany

We are a planning a 2 week october holiday in Italy for our first visit. We would like to do 3 nights rome, one week in Tuscany to unwind and finish in Venice for 2 nights and return home. Ideally we do not want a car. Where would you recommend to stay in Tuscany that is right in town that is walking distance to cute shops and restaurants and cafés, but is central enough to visit other small towns by bus or train? What do you think of our itinerary?

Messa, I suggest renting a car when your ready to leave Rome. Driving through Tuscany is wonderful and this area is made up of many hill top stone walled towns that are wonderful to stay in and explore in the late afternoon and evening hours while you enjoy the wonderful countryside by day. Do plan on stopping in Florence if you never been, it's unbelievable!! If you need recommendations on places to stay in Florence, Venice, or Rome let me know.
