Beautiful large rooms, nice pool, movie theatres and bowling alley, good buffet and restaurants, excellent prime rib, very large casino (like all the other casinos these days- nobody winning), easy to check in. They have a shuttle bus that runs pretty late back and forth to the strip every hour. It also drops off near the Rio & Palms hotel off the strip. Orleans is about 1.5 miles off the strip and is an easy ride down Tropicana Ave. Sometimes the rates are so much lower than the strip that it is cheaper to stay at the Orleans even if you rent a car to get around. Ask for a strip-view room.

We are returning to the Orleans for a week's stay in January. We like it! We always rent a car, however, so that we can get back and forth to places on the strip that we like to frequent.
Rooms are very nice!

Hi Avery,
Everything tracy2cents said is true! We have been going to the Orleans for years. We go there every year between Christmas and New Years. We typically stay three nights. The rates are best Sunday through Thursday nights.
Have fun!

Everything she said is true, except one thing: the percentage of winners doesn't change with the times. The only winning percentages the casino can control are slots, and any changes are in the 1-2% range, which is far too small for any one gambler to notice. The odds in table games don't change. Yes, rules variations exist in blackjack, but the casino has to post them--nothing sneaky there, and changes are rare and subtle over many years.

If you have a car, great! We didn`t have one, and we ended up wasting lots of time waiting for the shuttle to or from the strip. Vegas is more spread out that you think. I`d stay on the strip if you won`t have a car. Otherwise, the rooms were nice. I called the hotel and asked for a room with a strip view, which we got at no extra cost. It had a large bed plus a sofa, that I ended up sleeping on. Nice.
