Oh, very mature. How about you just move somewhere you like better? When you find that place with great weather, affordable cost of living, hundreds of miles of public beaches and NO hint of backwardness or racism or anything else to offend your sensibilities, let me know. Paradise on earth, in other words. Better get cracking, it's gonna take you a while.

I realize this four year old thread was revived by bbcab who is also thinking of moving. But I can't help but notice we never heard if the OP did in fact use any of the advice and did move to Florida after all.
Wouldn't it be nice to get feedback from posters after the fact? Just dreaming here, I guess.

Katzgar, no one in their right mind would ever take your advice on Florida, so I don't know why you bother. You seem to be here solely to insult the state to which you moved . You can impugn my perspective and experience of "civilization" all you like, but that says everything about you I need to know.
Neo, I have given so much detailed Florida advice over the years, both for relos and vacations, and have heard almost nothing about those moves and trips. I think people who are relocating find better sources of information than this board, perhaps.

NewbE, or at least another source where they don't have to put up with the petty snapping between posters. LOL
And Katzgar, I'm really sorry that you had to endure Florida's attempt to reduce insurance fraud -- a problem all states have. It's also unfortunate that you have to live with those (GASP!) immigrants. Maybe you could move back to a lily white suburb with less diversity and no problems. I doubt Florida would miss you or your attitude.

"Man, if I had a dollar for every person who moves to Florida and then can't stop talking about what a backward, racist state it is, I'd be a millionaire."
Do you remember saying this? How does this sort of consensus escape you?

Other states don't require an inspection first. true all states have fraud but it is extra popular in Florida hence the inspections not required in other states. again, a distinction that escapes you.

Again, I am sorry you had to endure such a horrible hardship as having a vehicle inspected. Horrors! The distinction doesn't escape me, but clearly the "apology" escapes you. And certainly that could top the list as the number one reason not to move to Florida. I'm sorry you didn't know about that horrible requirement before moving there.

Neo, I can't even understand the syntax of that last post to answer, so I'm glad you did!
<Other states don't require an inspection first. true all states have fraud but it is extra popular in Florida hence the inspections not required in other states.>
This is nonsensical!

this is a clue you are too dense to figure out.
never said it is horrible, just indicates the massive fraud in FL, according to our insurance agent.

As one of the original posters on this thread, I just want to throw in an observation. My comments as of 4 years ago were pretty dire, and absolutely true. What a relief that things have improved so vastly - evidenced IMO just by our being able to snipe at each other.
For anyone wondering - most of those people I knew (including families with children) who were living in their cars, or worse if they didn't have that - most of them have jobs again and a place to live. Not all, of course. We fared pretty well, ourselves, and so didn't feel much impact directly.
Like NeoPatrick, I would like to hear from our original OP. Am hoping things worked out there as well.

Before making any decision on where to live I would do a lot of investigation of public schools. FL is known for having quite poor public schools (so many retirees aren;t interested that there is limited support for school expenditures). If it were me I would look at the states with the best public schools and then start choosing based on job opportunities/economy.
