Best place to cross near NIagara?

We are driving from Michigan across Canada and crossing into New York near Niagara FAlls. Which is the best bridge? The way our trip is planned now, we should be to the Niagara area about mid-day on a Friday. Any tips on how to avoid delays getting back into the US?
Thanks!

Avoid the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls. The Queenston-Lewiston bridge is usually a good choice.

I live in the area. the Queenston-Lewiston bridge used to be my bridge of choice, but the last few weekend, there have been 30 min-2 hour waits. The rumor flying around is that most internet mapping sites direct people across Queenston-Lewiston. The Rainbow bridge will probably have a wait of sorts, but no matter which bridge you take, there is likely to be some sort of wait. when you are on the higway, watch for warning signs-sometimes they will have a flashing light sign warning of the bridge delays so you can pick which one to take. Also, try listening to a local radio station (WBEN 930 am - a conservative talk radio station but has the most current news and traffic reports) which usually gives the heads up if the waits are excessive. If you have time to research, there is a toll free number to call to get bridge reports, but I dont have it, or the time to find it.

I agree, the Queenston Bridge can be very backed up. What is your destination? Niagara Falls USA? If not, then the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie is another option.

We had over two hours waiting to get into Canada at the Queenston Bridge last year 2006, at the end of May.

We did not have any length of time to speak of getting back in there at the end of our trip, toward USA.

We are actually driving from Grand Rapids to Boston, and hope to get to Albany on the first day, which is 10 hours of driving (without stops and delays!) We spent 3 days at the Falls last summer, and I remember the Rainbow bridge being pretty busy. We crossed it on foot and it was fast getting into US. Google Maps and AAA both recommend the Queenston-Lewiston bridge, but I do have maps of the area, so maybe we will try to go down to Erie.
