Best place to buy Hawaiian shirts on big island
 

Going to the big island end of september. My husband loves Hawaiian shirts. Best place to buy them on the big island?

Walmart.No kidding.

Costco has nice ones too and they're usually under 20 dollars for the same brands that cost $40+ elsewhere!

Come on, you can go to Wal-Mart at home. When in Hawaii go to Hilo Hatties in either Hilo or Kona. They have about 8 stores throughout the islands, BTW.

Hilo Hatties is definately an experience and shouldn't be missed!

But the quality of Hilo Hatties leaves much to be desired, and costs double. Walmart and Costco carry a lot of nice local items here...

what about grocery shopping for budget minded aussies on a week long run around the big island

Avoid the 100% polyester shirts. Horrible to wear in the warm weather.

Stay with cotton, rayon or silk.

We have Hilo Hatties here at our local mall in Southern California.

I agree with going for Walmart in Hilo. They have a separate area in the store for souvenirs. Same exact merchandise
as over at Hilo Hatties and at the ABC stores in Waikiki except a good bit cheaper. I did get a bunch of 2004 calendars for souvenirs at Hilo Hatties for 99cents. They are beautiful and were cheaper than Walmart.

If you want quality and something that the locals would buy, go to a good department store (Liberty House)and find a Reyns.
