Best Place for a Sedona Sunset

Other than at the top of Schnebly Hill Road and along Airport Road, I'd love to hear your opinion of the best places to view sunsets in Sedona.

I didn't think the airport road was all that impressive. Maybe it's because I had already seen the best.

Go to the Crescent Moon Picnic Area.

After you park the car, with your back to the entrance go to the right. Ask for directions.

You want to go to Oak Creek where you see Cathedral Rock from the other side of the Creek.

I have a bunch of photos with the sun shining on Cathedral Rock and the reflection in the Creek.

I also got some great shots from the motel patio. BW Inn of Sedona. It had just drizzled and the sun was breaking thru as it set. The view of Chimney Rock was great.

You can see my photos at:

Select the 2007 trip to Bryce, Zion, GC & Sedona.

Unfortunately you'll have to go thru them all to get to the Sedona shots.

Thank you Myer for the sunset advice and thank you for sharing your travel photos. Now I think I need to plan a trip to Bryce and Zion. Your photography looks like the kind you see in travel books.

judy,

The Utah/Arizona trips were great ones.

The only mistake I made on the 2007 trip was not hiking down the Grand Canyon for about an hour. My stop in GC was intended to break up a long day of driving.

I visited bryce twice. Once in 2007 and once at trhe end of the 2008 trip.

There's a gem about 20 miles from Bryce that nobody bothers with.

Willis Creek is a true slot canyon with a little creek running thru it.

Most people who bother with that area go to Grosvenor Arch and/or Kodachrome Park. They don't compare with Willis Creek.

I agree, Crescent Moon is fabulous. Airport Road is too crowded!

sitting on my hotel patio with a cocktail in hand..
agree that airport road can be a little crazy..we were there 2 weeks ago and just appreciated being in the moment.

I was driving out Dry Creek Rd to the Enchantment Resort at sunset. I had to pull over and enjoy the view--it was just beautiful--and I was without a camera.
