Best place along pacific coast for romantic anniversary trip?

It will be our 30th wedding anniversary this June, and we live in Utah. Will only be able to make it a fairly short trip so we need to pick someplace along the pacific coast. Any recommendations would be great! I was leaning towards the oregon coast and my husband thinks it may be too cold in June. We don't want to go to San Diego area, as we go there almost yearly. Want someplace different, but right on the ocean. Preferably under about $300 per night. Help!!

We absolutely loved Pacific Grove CA [monterey area].
We stayed at Seven Gables Inn and it was romantic, wonderful!

It is closet to the bay, we could hear the surf from our room.

Great breakfast, free wine tasting and snacks every afternoon and fresh, hot cookies and milk every night don't hurt either! We met some really nice folks while there and they were all return visitors - I could see why.

Here are some pics:

We love Pacific Grove, and have stayed at Seven Gables, but the US Open is that week of our anniversary and they have a seven night minimum, and other hotels are extremely more high priced because of that! So will have to choose someplace else.

For some warmer weather,Santa Barbara and the Simpson House B&B, it's a AAA 5 Diamond rated place.
Or, for harbor view, Fess Parker's Doubletree Hotel with a view room.
Or, even warmer (unless the June Gloom is in) San Diego and the Hotel Del Coronado.
Also in SD, the Hilton Gaslamp Hotel

Do you specifically want to be on the ocean? I just love Napa for romantic weekends. And the food and wine are just wonderful!

Would like to visit the wine country sometime, but our fav is the ocean! The recommendations so far are over $400 per night. Want to stay close enough to hear the ocean from our room.

Beware of our "June Gloom" here along the California coast.

Most of these oceanfront (LA County) places run around or under $300/night:

Half Moon Bay, California, Cypress Inn. On the water--the oceanfront suite is an ocean lover's dream come true. Great beach, interesting town, good restaurants. When you call, ask for internet specials--we were able to take advantage of a very nice discount that way. Good luck and happy anniversary!
