Try Bryson City. The Fryemont Inn is an old style mountain inn that is lovely. The Folkestone Inn is outside Bryson City and also very nice.

Another vote for Bryson City. The Folkestone Inn is probably one of my favorite B&Bs- very handy for hiking into the Deep Creek area of the Smokies.
What route will you be taking through the Smokies? I hate to recommend recommend something close to TN if your route is through NC.

Mike Honeycutt
Will you be driving or flying (to Asheville? or Knoxville?).

You can enter the Smokies from all directions so it would be helpful to know what city/state you'll be coming from.

Mike
