Some of my favorite family spots are those that the big attraction is the place itself - lots of nooks and crannies to explore or just a long covered porch with rocking chairs! Here are some that come to mind:
Black Point Inn of Scarborough, Maine; Vicorian Inn at Gooserocks Beach, Maine;
Mount Washington Hotel of Bretton Woods, NH; Bradford Inn of Chatham, MA! I love finding "hidden jewels" in my own backyard!

Georgia's best-kept secret IMHO is Providence Canyon, aka "Little Grand Canyon" near the Alabama border. Just about anyone can hike (really more of a walk) to the bottom. During the summer months of June & July the wild azaleas are blooming at the bottom of the canyon.

I simply *love* New York, Hawaii, and Arizona!

My husband and I loved Door County Wisconsin. Those from Chicago and the midwest seem to know about it but never heard of anybody from the northeast that has heard of it. Just wonderful and if the drive wasn't so far, about 16 hours for us, we would love to spend more time there.
