Best Mussels in SF?

I will be staying in the Union Sq area. Can someone recommend a good spot for mussels? I read that Plouf is a possibility - anyone been there?

Been to Plouf, liked it a lot. If you're looking for mussels, this is probably the place to go. Make sure to get a reservation ASAP. It's noisy and very tight. You'll be elbow to elbow with the folks at the table next to you. We had some mussels for an app and I had a good bouillabaisse (sp?) for main course.

Absolutely Plouf! You will have your choice of maybe 6 to 7 different ways to have them. Make sure you get the frites as well. Reservations are essential.

Another recommendation for Plouf. I've never needed a reserservation, but I usually go during the week.

Don't know if it is always on the menu, but some of the best mussels (moules frites) I've had in SF were at Scala Bistro on the first floor of the Sir Francis Drake hotel. It's at 450 Powell between Post and Sutter right in the Union Sqaure area.
