Best mountains/shopping from Denver?

I will be travelling with my 18 yr old daughter to Denver the beginning of June. We're open to anything - but top of the list would be shopping, relaxing and hiking/horseback riding. Will spend a day in Denver downtown to take care of some shopping. Any ideas where to stay for the other four days?

Summit County. It's only an hour and a half from Denver. Has Lake Dillon, Breckenridge, and Keystone to provide you with the hiking, horseback riding, cycling, boating, great food. And Silverthorne has the outlet stores for all the shopping you can handle!

In Denver hit the Cherry Creek area for good shopping. The mall AND the streets around it. Lots of cute stores and boutiques. Could take hours!

Check out the JW Marriott in Cherry Creek for your Denver stay. The nearby Cherry Creek Mall is full of high end stores (plus some others) and Cherry Creek North (outdoor shopping) has boutique type stores and tons of restaurants that you and your daughter will love.

I agree on Summit County for the rest of your visit.

Thanks much! My daughter thinks it sounds great - so I'll find some lodging and we'll be ready to go!

Another suggestion is the Omni in Broomfield. It is in the middle of the Flatiron shopping area, great views of the mountains, and shuttles to mall and dining. It is also close to Boulder for more shopping on Pearl Street walking mall and hiking the foothills.

If you are interested in shopping, both Tess and JD make good suggestions. Downtown Denver is a little weak in the shopping department. Cherry Creek has a good selection of unique shops, but Boulder is in a beautiful setting. The Hotel Julien in Boulder, looks really nice, but I haven't stayed there. It is a tough decision, but I'm sure you would be happy in either location.
