Best Maui restaurant w/oceanview @ sunset?
Need some recommendations so I can make reservations as to opinions of the best maui restaurant with an oceanview at sunset. Have read several threads for most romantic restaurant, but know that the best sunsets will be on the west side or in south Maui. This will be our first trip and want to catch some beautiful sunsets with dinner. Thanks, Deb

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Maui at the end of 2003. So it has been a little over a year since we were there. Hands down our best dining experience was our sunset dinner at Sarento's on the Beach, Kihei, Maui, Hawaii...near Wailea. The phone is 808-875-7555
http://www.tri-star-restaurants.com/...ch/index.shtml The service was the best of anything we experience (and we were staying at the Four Seasons where service was amazing). The food was great but not as memorable as the view and service. We also felt the value was outstanding. In all for a fine-dining experience we thought it was reasonable. I can't remember exactly but I think we left for under $125 with high-end seafood entrees, a bottle of wine, etc... The view of the sunset was perfect! It is one of the few framed photos I have in our home from the trip. I recommend arriving right when they open (depending on the time of year). I would ask what time sunset is and be there a bit before. |
Leilani's patio isn't too bad, and not too pricey either.
|
Lahaina Fish Co. and/or Kimo's - both located on Front Street in Lahaina.
|
Nick's Fishmarket in the Kea Lani for sure! Have also had a nice sunset meal at Leilani's in West Maui. If you want to go casual, take out fish from Alexander's in Kihei (South Maui) and sit in Kamaole II park to eat it. The most beautiful sunset I've ever seen! We had a terrible meal at Sarento's but evidently that's not the norm!

Pacific O's in Lahaina.
|
Some friends of ours have a condo on Kanapaali Beach and swear that the best sunsets on the beach (and Mai Tais) can be found at the Hula Grill. They also have a great looking menu (we checked out their website when we were planning an aborted trip to Maui) - including a desert that is to die for! I think it is called a Hula Pie of something like that but it is an ice cream concoction with Macadamia nuts. MMMMMMM!

I agree with BoulderCo, one of the best restaurants in Maui is Pacific O at 505 Front St in Lahaina. Forget all the other suggestions and head there first. Another very good place is Roy's in a shopping center, on the second floor about a mile past Kanapoli. Look it up in the phone book. Food and service is outstanding, mid to upper price range. No view. Kimo's is good for lunch only. Another outstanding place is David Paul's in Lahina at the Old Lahina Inn just off Front Street. Expensive, but this may be the best place on Maui.

I agree with the poster who rec. Pacific O. Nest door, same ownership, is I'o, with more seafood. Both have outstanding food, romantic settings, right on the beach for sunset views.
|
Not exactly a restaurant but the Old Lahaina Luau has a nice backdrop.
|
I thought Pacific O was to die for. My husband ordered the Bling Bling (filet and lobster) and the lobster in coconut sauce was so incredibly good that I asked if I get a lobster tail just like it ala carte. So delish!!! :)

My husband and I shared a great sunset dinner at Bubba Gump's in downtown Lahaina. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, is right on the water, and super great seafood. Try the "Accidental Fish." - not on the menu but a house favorite!
|
We attended the Luau at the Reinessance Wailea Resort. The sunset was beautiful and we were able to have our picture taken with it in the background. I was worth it!
|
Definitely Pacific'O and Sarrento's
|
Ferraro's at Four Seasons is nice for sunset. Also spago has the same view. I love Nick's also!
|
Castaway cafe, at the Aston Maui Ka'anapali Villa's resort. Just steps from the beach, and Beautiful unobstructed view's of the pacific/sunset.
Also tasty Lava Flows! : ) Lori |
Mamas FishHouse...the best of everything. Very, very expensive
|
Mama's Fish House is no more expensive than the other top tier restaurants on the island such as Nick's, Sarento's, Spago. Just a different ambiance. Some might say it's a little to affected. We enjoyed it. It's oriented towards the north, though the view is still memorable.
Drive east a few hundred yards before dinner and watch the surfers, sailboarders and others. |
Another vote for Nick's Fishmarket. And the service was impeccable.

We stayed at the 4S in Wailea.
the best restaurant in my opinion for sunset was Capische right in Wailea. |
