Best Maui Oceanview Restaurant?
 

I've got many suggestions of places to eat, but want to eat at a couple of oceanview restaurants. (We never get to dine and enjoy the ocean!) Any suggestions would be great! Thanks, Deb

Mama's Fishhouse was like a hawaiian fantasy come true!

We enjoyed the view from Cheeseburger in Paradise too.

The Plantation Restaurant in Kapalua has a very nice distant ocean view.
Hula Grill in Kaanapali sits at the edge of the beach, with nice setting and good food. I'o Restaurant in Lahaina is very romantic, fine food, tropical garden setting overlooking the ocean at the edge of the beach--a great sunset view at or before dinner.

I liked Ferraro's on the Four Season's property. It was excellent and definitely oceanfront.

Sarento's in Kihei is wonderful, both view and food. The service is excellent as well.

My recommendation would be the Plantation House in Kapalua for ambiance, view and food or the SeaWatch in Napili, great view, however the food was just o.k.

Where is the Cheeseburger in Paradise located at?

I think you are confusing the Sea Watch in Wailea with the Sea House in Napili.

Cheesburger in Paradise is on Front Street in Lahaina. Don't expect too much--it's a quick turn-over hamburger place with $8 burgers and a side of fries will set you back another $4. But it is waterfront.

Both our children live in Maui. On Front St. restaurant called "505" is on the ocean. Little $$ but good. Casual, and Front St. is the tourist area with shops, t shirt places and few nice art gallery's.(My daughter works there and I have been there also. Ask for table outside) As one said, the Hula Grill is neat. Can sit outside too, tables in the sand. We always go there our first night in Maui, has become a "tradition." Real classy. is at the Hyatt, the Swan Court. Dress up/ and very pricey but beautiful. They have a white and a black swan in view. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the advice. A couple questions; does anybody know if Nick's Fishmarket, Sarento, David Lahaina Grill, or Mama's Fishhouse have an ocean view? Have just read alot of threads about these good places to eat! Thanks

David Paul's Lahaina Grill has great food, but no ocean view. Depending on where you will be staying or where your activities will be on any given day, both the Sea Watch restaurant and Mama's Fish House have ocean views, but are on opposite sides of the island. If you are staying on the West side, you probably won't want to plan on Mama's for dinner as that is too long a drive, especially if you will be drinking. But if you have activities on that side of the island during the day, lunch is served there. The Sea Watch restaurant is at the Wailea Golf Course (Emerald and Gold). The views are spectacular and the food is great. It is very casual. This is a good bet if you will be staying on the West side of the island (Wailea, Lahaina, Kihei, Kaanapali).

While Lahaina and Ka`anapali are in western Maui, Kihei and Wailea are not. They're "south" Maui.

We had the problem of not wanting to drive over to Mama's Fish House for dinner so we went for lunch and that was perfect to me. That way you get to see the gorgeous ocean in full sun the entire time. ;)

Nick's is AMAZING! Although it is close to the beach in the Fairmont Key Lani..it is not an up close water view. Well worth a meal here. ALos, Spago in Four Seasons, and someone else has said Sarento's. Another great place! Another restaurant is in the Grand Wailea...Hummhumm..(I cannot remember the whole name...its super long!) Great fish!

We will be spending 4 nights in Kaanapali area, then 5 nights at the Maui Prince. Thanks for all your information. Has anybody tried the Sunday Brunch at the Maui Prince?
I'm hoping by staying at the Maui Prince, we won't be too far away from good restaurants and shopping.

Makena is minutes from Wailea, which has good restaurants (among the finest on the island) and a very nice shopping center, The Shops at Wailea (which has a web site), featuring upscale emporia, of which to avail oneself.
Just beyond Wailea is Kihei, which has many shops, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, mini-malls.

We ate at Cheeseburgers in Paradise in Lahaina and Leilanis in the Whalers Village shopping area at Kaalapali. Leilanis is on the beachfront walkway and has good food. The Westin recommended Pacificos in Lahaina for a more romantic, special meal but we never made it. One of the store owners in Lahaina said it was good as well.
