Best luxury hotel in NYC?

I am looking for truly the BEST luxury hotel in NYC. Very special event, weekend trip. Assuming price is (almost) no object, who votes for what? 4 Seasons? Pierre? St. Regis? Palace? Plaza? Penninsula? (Ever noticed how many start with letter "P"?)
Thanks.
Here's one vote for the Four Seasons. Ambience/service make the difference.

I stayed at the Pierre twice - room was nice but on the small side. People there were too snobby for my taste. I loved the Palace. Made reservations through Quikbook & got a reasonable rate. Room was huge, overlooking St Patrick's. The people were very nice. I would love to go back there.

Another vote for Four Seasons. Deluxe rooms are very, very nice. Had friends in from Hong Kong recently that stayed in a suite and it was truly amazing.

I'd vote for the Four Seasons also, but if you're looking for something with "old world" charm you may prefer the Carlyle or St. Regis. Our room at the Four Seasons was very large as was the bathroom and the service was outstanding.
