Best Luau &/or Best Brunch in Hawaii

We will be on Kauai, Big Island and Oahu in Jan, 2001. Where is the best Luau and/or the Sunday Brunch on these islands? Thanks,
Mary

The best Luau in Hawaii is on the big islant at the Kona Village Resrot. Good food and a very good show. I would recommend it.

If you're interested in authentic hawaiian food, try Ono's in Oahu. They serve the same food as at a Luau but usually better and much, much cheaper. You also get a chance to rub elbows with the locals rather than other tourists.

Mary,
My husband & I live on Oahu and HIGHLY recommend John Domini's for Sunday Brunch and either Paradise Cove or Germaine's for Luau's.
Enjoy!!

On the Big Island, the Mauna Kea Resort has a reputation for the best Sunday brunch on the island, which is deserved from what I remember (10 years ago).

It's not brunch nor a luau but for 2 unique food experiences on Kauai, we suggest these at the Princeville Resort Hotel:
1. High tea
2. Friday night only, humognous buffet of high quality items from appetizers thru desserts.
In addition to satisfying your palate, you get a freebie to sooth your soul....the magnificent view across Hanalei Bay to Bali Hai. Neither eating experience is inexpensive but the memories from our 1998 visit still linger. Planning a return March 2001.
Good luck.

Hi, this is not a Sunday brunch, but a fun one all the same. You need to make reservations well in advance to get a table. On Saturdays at the Sheraton Waikiki Hanohano Room, there is a brunch that also doubles as a live broadcast (called the Perry & Price show) on one of the more popular radio stations. It's a brunch buffet with a fun live show and an incredible view. I try to take out-of-town guests to this one.

On Oahu, check out the Paradise cove luau, it includes a dinner, activites, and show. Another popular one is the Polynesian Culture center night show, it's costy, but worth it. Both luau's are away from all the hustle and bustly, hope you enjoy.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but luaus are soooooo touristy and serve assembly line, steamtable food...I just cannot understand why they attract so many tourists. My suggestion for brunch on the Big Island would be Merriman's, one of the leaders in Hawaiian regional cuisine. Great food, without the corny theatrics.

We were just in Kauai a few weeks ago and had Sunday brunch at the Ilimi Terrace in the Hyatt Regency, Poipu Beach, Kauai and it was absolutely delightful! An awesome buffet spread beside a koi fish pond with white swans swmimming and views of the ocean with local Hawaiian singers. It wasn't cheap( US$28 plus tax & tip) but we certainly felt it was worth it.
