best luau in Hawaii
We will be spending 3 weeks on the 4 major islands of HI in July. We would like to go to just 1 luau and was wondering which on on which island would be the best overall experience. We are 2 fifty year olds celebrating our 30th anniversary and would like something not corny or too touristy but a bit more authentic, if that's possible. Thank you in advance.

Hopefully, with some searching you can find a locall fundraiser luau. We were lucky to spend some time at one in Hanalei on Kauai and that is surely some local fun for a good cause.
Otherwise, I'd embrace the touristy and corny and stick with either Old Lahaina Luau or the Polynesian Center on Oahu. |
Did you happen upon the local one in Hanalei when you arrived or is there a place to search this prior to going?

I planned being there for the 4th of July, I stumbled upon the Canoo Club fundraiser and bought tickets at the farmers market.

Oahu - Polynesian Cultural Center or Germaine's
Maui - Old Lahaina Kauai - Smith's Enjoy Hawaii...it is our favorite vacation destination. |
Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu is by far the best Polynesian entertainment in Hawaii.
They have the best show, 'Horizons'. Including 'Horizons', the seven villages each with their own show/demonstration, the canoe pageant & the Ali'i Luau there are 10 shows compared to one for any other luau in the state. |
Old Lahaina Luau hands down! We think it is the most authentic and least Las Vegas style of entertaining unlike some of the hotels.
|
On Maui either Old Lahaina Luau or Feast of Lele.

We just went to the Old Lahaina Luau in Maui about 10 days ago. It was fabulous!!! I felt very pampered and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and performances. $96 per person I think...well worth it!

We prefer the Ali'i Luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
