Best Luau Big Island
I would appreciate up-to date recommendations as to the best luau on the Big Island.

I forgot to add that we are 4 adults.
Is there anything like Maui's Feast of LeiLei? we really enjoyed that. So more of a dinner show and food to go with it |
I don't know if it's the best cause it's the only one we attended, but we did go twice. We enjoyed it very much. Be there as soon as they open and pay the extra $5.00pp to sit up front. Both times we sat next to the stage with no problems viewing. The food was decent, the dancing excellent and they have an open bar that you can go back to again and again! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...ii_Hawaii.html

There really isn't anything like what you have on Maui. Especially now that Kona Village still is out of commission. Everything is kinda tacky touristy. However, if you want an exposure to authentic Hawaiian culture while on the Big Island, there are many free hula shows on the island each week. Go to Konaweb to find an updated listing. There is also a great Talk Story event once a month at the Mauna Lani if you are lucky enough to be here on a Saturday when it is happening. Might find some slack key guitar players performing while you are on island. Konaweb should have that info as well.
If you are especially lucky and come in the Spring there is the Merrie Monarch festival in Hilo. Tickets are done based on lottery as it is so popular and well worth it if the timing works. Happy Planning! |
TY.
I totally agree with you. See the shows separately and go to better restaurants rather than blowing $400+ on luau's (and 2 of us don't even drink!) |
I'm definitely not a fan of luaus, but if I had to go to one on the Big Island it would be the Mauna Kea's.
