Best Las Vegas hotel

I am planning to take a trip to Las Vegas in october. I wanted to know the coolest hotel to stay in. My friends just came back for vegas. They stayed at the Rio. Some hotel i think look good are Luxor,Treasure Island, and Exalibur.

You'll have to tell us your definition of 'coolest'.
Do you mean most luxurious? glitziest? loudest? most entertainment? best casino? best location?
Of the hotels you listed, only the Rio would make my list of hotels to be considered, but its location is a big negative.
Give us more details on what you're looking for.

Bellagio is the best if you're looking for class and luxury. If noise and partying and loud machines do it for you, then Bellagio isn't the one. You can enjoy them all...my favorite pastime in LV is casino cruising...
If it's cool you're looking for - The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is the place for you. Frequented by many rock stars, you never know who you'll be sitting next to at the blackjack table. The location is well off of the strip, but they have a shuttle service to get you there on the off chances you 'dare' to leave. I have run into Jon BonJovi and Eddie Van Halen in the casino there.

The Excalibar should definitely be DROPPED from your list. It is NOT cool. The must luxurious and elegant hotel in Las Vegas is the Bellagio. There is no other in it's league.

Dollar for dollar...Four Seasons is the most elegant and luxurious hotel in Vegas. When comparing standard rooms of both Bellagio and FS...Four seasons offers more ammenities, included, than Bellagio. Bellagio's baths and furnishings are a scaled down version of those at FS. Bellagio does have one ammenity that FS doesn't...and that's the fountains. If you are guaranteed a fountain view...it's worth losing the mini bar, coffeemaker, and jacuzzi jets of the FS. If you can't get that view...FS wins overall. Some are a little negative about the fact that FS (and Mandalay Bay) are at the far south end of the strip...but so then are MGM, The Trop, Luxor, and NYNY. In addition...it's faster, by cab, to get to Bellagio from Mandalay Bay than it can often be going from Treasure Island to Bellagio. Traffic at the center strip is a nightmare.
Drew,
The Hard Rock Hotel and Mandalay Bay are definitely two of the more hip hotels drawing a younger crowd. The drawback of the Hard Rock is its location off the strip. Mandalay Bay has some cool restaurants and bars.
Caesar's Palace is still one of my favorites (if you get a room in the Palace Tower).
I just returned from Vegas last night. I stayed at the Venetian and was pretty impressed with it. The rooms are great - very big - separate bedroom and living area and marble bathrooms. I also liked the casino and the Grand Canal Shoppes. The only aspect that was a bit of a disappointment was the pool area. While the pool itself is large, there isn't much landscaping around it. Just a lot of concrete.
Definitely take Treasure Island and Excalibur off your list. These hotels are more family oriented - lots of kids running around.

There is a lot more to a hotel than just it's rooms. Four Seasons may win out on the rooms but the Bellagio is first in overall elegance and class.

LVLarry:

We know you like the Bellagio, so just let it go. (how many posts, already?) Other people have other opinions, and this forum is so we can all benefit. I disagree that the Bellagio is THAT classy, and I'm glad to hear all points of view.

LVChris Oct 13th, 1999 05:33 PM

Defining 'class' is, I suppose, a personal thing, but having visited or stayed in all the newer places in LV, I gotta agree with Larry. Bellagio is the 'classiest' place in Las Vegas. Now transplant it to Chicago or Naples or the Bay area and it would take on a gaudier overdone flavor. But compared to the competition in LV, which is as gaudy and overdone and/or cheesy as it gets, it's classy (to me). Take the pool, for instance. No place in LV has a pool area even in its league for high end, relaxed atmosphere. The rooms aren't glitzy or gaudy. They're more like a nice home with heavy drapes, crown molding, etc, etc... Sorry to beat this already dead horse deader.

The Venetian wins in ALL categories -- PERIOD!!

LVLarry Oct 16th, 1999 06:20 AM

LVSuzie:

I apologize for posting my opinion. I was not aware that this forum was limited to folks with opinions that agree with yours. When it is all said and done, is it really all that important. Everybody has their own opinions on what they condsider to be the best. Remember that they are just opinions and nothing more.

Actually I do not stay at the Bellagio as it is not my cup of tea. You did not state your preference so I assume that you do not have one.

In any event Las Vegas is a fun place to be with a vast array of excellent hotel choices. One should stay where they like and not get so upset about others opinions.

It all depends on your idea of cool.

I agree that the Hard Rock is a COOL place, if I were a 20 something. I love the elegance of the Bellagio and the Four Seasons.

Most of the Hotels on the strip offer some type of cool atmosphere. The VooDoo lounge at the Rio is a great 20 something club. Plus it offers great views of the valley. Club Ra at the luxor is also cool. Seeing a show at the Joint at the Hard Rock is Cool.

If I were you, I would search the web for as much info on Vegas as I could. Get my friends together and plan what kind of Cool things you want to do in Vegas.

If you need some help, drop my an email. I used to live there and I am now a tourist. So I know the best of both worlds.

Have a Great Trip!
Jim McIntosh;Webmaster/HereHuGo.com
The Travel Search Engine
Hi,

Last year we stayed at Treasure Island and it was very luxurious and the staff were wonderful. Our room was on the 34th floor and had a great view of the strip. We also liked the looks of the Luxor although we have not stayed there. This year we are staying at The Venetian because we heard a ton of great things about it and we wanted to try a new hotel. The Excaliber is older and looked sort of rundown so I wouldn't really suggest it. Hopes this helps.
